Shannon’s Journey at the Equine Natural Movement School: Building a Career in Equine Structural Integration Therapy

At the Equine Natural Movement School, Shannon discovered a unique path to building a meaningful career in equine structural integration therapy.

I graduated as an Equine Structural Integration practitioner in 2019.

I hoped that learning this work would help me build a horse business I was passionate about. Nervous and excited, I enrolled in the first module of the Equine Natural Movement School, to see if I liked it. I told my family and friends I was going to “horse camp” .

In class, I quickly realized this work was a different way of helping horses than I had experienced before. This work is all about the well-being of the horse. Being an advocate for the well-being of horses greatly appealed to me.

I was fascinated to learn an approach to horses that involved sensitive energy work alongside deep structural anatomy. I love learning, and this path of education sent my mind into excitement overdrive. I knew this would be my full-time profession.

Over the next year, I completed all three modules in the program. I passed the national and state exams and started growing my business. I worked hard and within eight months, I was earning a decent income. Within two years, I had enough clients to fill my schedule.

This work set me on the path to becoming the most authentic version of myself. I found a career where being sensitive is not only helpful but also celebrated. It led to a softening of my heart, more compassion, tolerance, kindness, and a tremendous desire to connect with people, not just horses. Practicing this work led me to inner work that has freed me of old emotional patterns. I built my business while also building confidence, showing up, even when it was hard or outside my comfort zone. This program helped mold the entrepreneurial spirit I have today.

Something unexpected that came from this path is the number of friends I’ve made. I love my clients, and they love me! We have so much fun being together. I feel blessed to be part of many barn families. They invite me to ride their horses with them and be a part of their barn activities. What a blessing to feel so included and have the support of so many friends!

My practice today is thriving & full of clients that I love! I am currently practicing more craniosacral these days, as I love how gentle the work is, & how transformative it can be in affecting the whole body.  I work with performance horses competing at the FEI level, retired horses, trail horses, you name it. My style of working with the horses, is gentle & playful at times. I encourage the horses to show their personality and express themselves. I want them to feel safe and heard. I genuinely look at each of the horses as my dear friends and I believe they feel it.
